Use the Domino Audit Trail

Domino records user activity across your Domino deployment for compliance verification, security investigations, and audit reporting. You can access audit events through purpose-built UI views and APIs. Domino retains audit data for 30 years to meet regulatory and governance requirements.

Access requires one of these roles: SysAdmin or GovernanceAdmin.

Domino captures two categories of audit events:

System events capture user-initiated actions executed via the UI or API. These actions either change system state (for example, editing a dataset) or access data (for example, viewing a dataset). Examples include:

  • Project, dataset, and environment actions

  • User, role, and permission changes

  • Job, app, workflow, and model lifecycle events

  • File interactions that occur through the Domino interface

Workspace File Access events capture file-level access to Domino Datasets and NetApp Volumes that occur within Domino Workspaces, such as file reads and writes performed from code, terminals, or IDEs. It records when users view, download, or modify files in NetApp Volumes or Domino Datasets.
Together, these event categories capture all audit activity across Domino: user actions, configuration changes, and file-level data access.
